This may not be the kind of music your normally expect to hear from us, but we're sure you'll agree that we couldn't miss
the opportunity to sign this record.
A bona fide star in his native Ireland Japes sound is best described as an amalgam of Jamie T / Beck / Arab Strap /
Yo La Tengo / Hot Chip. Produced by fellow Irishman David Kitt (Rough Trade) Jape's sound melds indie, electronica,
blues and hip hop to head-bopping affect.
Adam Freeland's contribution to the 'Back To Mine' [link to buy in shop] series presented the world with an insight
into Adams love of music beyond the dance floor. Jape's 'Floating' was featured in the mix and was one of the most
talked about tracks on the album. Since then its had the honour of being covered and played by 'The Raconteurs' and
has been gathering underground support from far and wide.
Prins Thomas was the perfect candidate for remixing the track and he hasn't failed to deliver. Expect 11 tasteful minutes
which manages to keep the original vibe and turn the song into an epic future disko masterpiece. New signing Alex Metric
provides Marine Parade fans with the dancefloor panache they've long been associated with…noisy, tough beats with electro
stabs. On the 7" we also feature fellow Irishman Son Green who delivers a warped electonica version.
Available on vinyl, mp3 and wav, from the Marine
Parade Shop. You can buy a zip file of all 6 mixes for the bargain price of £3.99 (320kbps mp3) or £4.99 (wav)
Coming Next: Alex Metric 'Whatshewants'
Mixmag single of the month!
Size matters, and by any standard of measurement, Alex Metric's talent is large, as made clear by his debut for us.
At just 26 years of age, he has made a big splash as both DJ and producer. He's played gigs spanning the globe from
Fabric in London to Eastern European festivals to Los Angeles clubs. Nominated as breakthrough producer at the 2006
Breakspoll awards, expect to be hearing a lot more from Alex Metric.
On the genre-smashing Whatshewants, Metric's productions have become more assured, as have the range of influences he brings
into his music. Inspired by everything from Jacques Le Cont and Daft Punk to his obsession with bad 80's records and krautrock
rhythms, Metric chops up the beats 'n vocals here like if he were Prince signed to Ed Banger. Slamming tracks like "Oh"
percolate with ironic electro-pop synths and brash hip-hop attitude, while "Breakin Hearts" seduces with chunky guitar
glitch given the trademark Metric acid wash. The e.p.'s cheeky power culminates in the title track, "Whatshewants,"
a squelching dancefloor stormer whose chunky hooks bring rude rock intensity to electronic club thump. "It's all quite a
mash-up of stuff," Metric explains. "I'm inspired by anything with a bit of balls and attitude.".
Out July 30th - Listen to 'Whatshewants' / 'Oh' / 'Breakin Hearts' on the
website now. There are limited
test pressings available,
or pre-order the finished product.
Adam Freeland - 'Global Underground'
"There's nothing out there quite like it. Arguably Adam's and Global Underground's finest ever mix" (iDJ magazine compilation of the month)
"It is enough to turn your head into jelly - and jelly feels good. Freeland's the type of DJ who keeps people moving by firing
shots at their feet. It makes for a pretty memorable experience."
(ibeats Review)
Adam's Global Underground has been released to critical acclaim and shows his DJ style cannot be pigeon-holed. To buy the CD and

on August 27th with remixes by Smash TV and Gui Boratto.

Due to popular demand we now accept payments by paypal. Simply choose what you would like and email your order to
eva@marineparade.net and we will reply with a paypal invoice.
New prices
We've reduced the price of a 320kbps mp3 to just £0.99 and a wav to £1.49. This covers the last two years of releases but soon all the
mp3s for sale in the shop will be 320kbps, and there will be no more 192kbps! Better sound for the same price, you can't argue
with that...

Top Ten
Alex Metric is busy in the studio making more great tracks to follow 'Whatshewants'. He is surviving on his Top
Ten Studio Snacks:
- Crackers and Cheese - The gentlemans studio fodder. A snack with class.
- Chocolate-covered flapjacks - The cake to end all cakes.
- Il Villagio sandwiches - The Italian deli near the studio, the finest sandwiches known to man. It's all about the chilli pesto. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
- Crumpets and hummous - Some crazy fusion thing going on here. But it works
- Raisin and oatmeal cookies - It's got fruit in it, so its not that bad for you right?
- Green Tea - I can do healthy too. My new addiction
- Percy Pigs - The best sweets ever. Move over starmix
- Plain Hobnobs - Pure oaty heaven.
- Scotch eggs - The classic. Recently rediscovered.
- Carrot sticks - Healthy carrot drowning in thousand island dressing.
